Hi Zerecero, congratulations on your championship. I won’t begin by asking you about how you are feeling, or if you’re happy with the result. That's pretty obvious. What we want to know is if this championship really took you by surprise. Those of us who were following on the website, already knew that you were ready for this. It was yours for the taking.
Thanks. Well, actually, the Brazilian qualification tournament was more complicated than I expected. I didn’t think it would be as tough as it was, playing with all the pressure on me. I had already lost in the US, and in the online tournament. Brazil was my last chance to be in the World Cup.
Imagine that! It was all or nothing. And tell us; was it really harder to play as visitor in Brazil than in the US?
Definitely. In the US, I really felt the support of a lot of people. So much so, that I got distracted, and lost the match- LOL. But one learns from mistakes, and in Brazil it was different. First, the fans were really nice and all, but it was only when I reached the semifinals, that I heard loud boos from the crowd. When I was losing 1-3 to buffo in the semis, things really got red hot, and the crowd were screaming things like
Deus é Brasileiro (God is Brazilian) and stuff like that. But I kept thinking that all the crowd wasn’t there just focusing on me in the game, and gladly I could make a comeback and win that match. Every time I scored a goal, there was silence all around, while I kept screaming “
Mexico, Mexico!”
You know, what I really found interesting, is the fact you not only played well, but won playing against all that pressure. I’m sure that it had a positive effect in improving your gaming. I’m pointing this out, with the thought of future CGS matches, where the public pressure could be a decisive factor in many matches.
Yeah, sure. The public is always a factor to take in to consideration. It is necessary to know how to coexist with them being in the game. But the most important thing is the game itself. While you play, people don’t exist. It’s only you and your game, and that is a lesson I learned not without losses, unfortunately.
And did you celebrate your goal in your rival’s face like in the match against Berlin?
Ha ha ha, well, I guess some things will never change. The thing is, I love this game so much; you have to feel it! When you score such a critical goal, all those emotions just explode. Every time I scored, I screamed “gooal” to the crowd. I just wanted to let them know, that all their booing just made me stronger.
Quoted for truth. And what’s next for you? Germany, I suppose.
Yes. That whole experience in Brazil is still like a dream come true. I’m very thankful to all the people that were behind me all the time, and never stopped believing in me. Especially all the Furia team. Our GM,
Electroflow, the guys from FIFA, and of course, to atumishcua who was my support in Brazil. Now, I keeping the dream alive in Germany, but at the same time, I’m ready for the upcoming Mexican WCG. Where I’m hoping also to qualify for the World Finals. And of course, I will never forget that I have to be more than ready for the Combine Tournament. I want to continue being Furia’s Fifa player.
And which gamers from the CGS do you expect to find in Germany?
I know that there will be good gamers like Gwan Hyeong "
kkh0824" Kim from Seoul Jinhwa, mitch09 who is a taxi player from an American team, and of course we will see some familiar faces like the current World Champion, Andries Smit. Though there are some qualifications matches still to play. For example in the UK, where
Bazza and
ChrisyB have great chances to win it.
That’s great. I think you’re a great representative for Latin America. And I see you have your América jersey… what do you think of the Aguilas performance in this Libertadores Cup?
Of course! I wear it in every tournament I play. I wear it as a good luck charm. I was in the Azteca Stadium when we played against River Plate… man, what a match! We played great since Cabañas entered the game. He was the reason we could turn the tables. I think we have good opportunity to pass to the next stage; the only problem is that we lack a leader in the field.
This has been really nice. Do you have any last words for all the fans out there?
Well, I thank you all for keeping track of my matches and performance. I hope I can honor each and every one of you, by bringing the World Championship to Latin America. Be sure that I will leave everything I have on the table, and to never give up the dream.
